28th June 2010. Summer vacation is over — it’s a rainy day in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Students came to The Dhaka Project School (TDPS) through the heavy shower which started early in the morning.
Though the weather is cloudy and raining cats & dogs—the students seem to enjoy all through the day. Rainy day is always a happy day for the students.
Pretty and Amin, KG 2, Section A, are happy after the summer vacation----now they will study hard for the half yearly final examination.

Movie Night
20th May 2010. It was a movie night at The Dhaka Project School roof-top.
Students of the senior grades were invited to watch the movie 2012 -- based on the end of the world predicted by the Maya Civilazation 5000 years ago.
100 students gathered on the roof-top from 6:30 pm. The show ended at 9:00 pm on the Big Screen.
Volunteer Luisa (Portugal) and Sara (Australia) sponsored all the expenses of the movie show.
Mr. Jewel (Volunteer Manager) & Mr. Shimul (Volunteer) along with some staffs organized the show.
Students were provided with snacks during the interval. All the students enjoyed the movie.
The Dhaka Project planned for 6 movie shows this year.

World Cup on Big Screen
25th June 2010, The Dhaka Project & Maitree Samati (A Cooperative Society) organized The World Cup 2010 on the Big Screen. A projector & the Big Screen were provided by the Dhaka Project.
Five foreign volunteers including 3 from Portugal, 1 from Ireland and 1 from Australia watched the football match between Brazil & Portugal from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on the big screen donated by Rima Rached & Staffs of MBC group, Dubai.
Hundreds of community people of Gawair area including students of The Dhaka Project School and their parents were present too.
The football show was held in front of Khan Plaza beside Gawair road.
Mr Azad & Mr. Jewel (Volunteer Manager) were among the organizers.

Student gets new teeth
23 June 2010. A Student, Marjia Akter (12) Class-3, Section-B , of The Dhaka Project broke her two Upper anterior insicisor (front teeth). The incident took place about a year ago while she was playing with her mates.
Marjia Akter fell on the ground - teeth first. Later she visited The Dhaka Project Health Care Centre. Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Dental Surgeon of TDP decided to give her teeth a new Porcelain Crown (Cap) which will look like as it was before.
After the new Porcelain Crown (cap) was placed on her teeth it appears her own teeth grew and took it’s shape.
Marjia Akter is now very happy, she will not have to worry about her teeth anymore. Her parent’s are also happy. New Porcelain Crown (cap) setting is a very costly treatment.
The Dhaka project Dental Section checks all student within six months interval (twice a year).

Summer Vacation is on
It's Summer vacation ( 18 June to 27 June' 2010) at The Dhaka Project School (TDPS).
The School shall remain open from 28 June, 2010.
All students will be able to enjoy summer vacations with their parents, relatives and enjoy delicious seasonal summer fruits—Mango, Jackfruit, Blackberry etc.

Toiletries Distribution
15th June 2010 was 2nd quarterly toiletries distribution day at The Dhaka Project School. The distribution program began at 11:30 A.M.
Each student was provided with a soap, a tooth paste and a tooth brush.
This program helps the students to keep their teeth clean and enjoy a healthy health which are pre-requisite for higher
school attendance. This also creates awareness among the students and makes it a regular cleaning habit.
The students were very happy to receive the toiletries.
Thanks to Rima Rached & MBC Group Staffs for donating toiletries for 500 Slum Children for a week.

Thank You to PRAMAC
Students of The Dhaka Project School (TDPS) gives a big Thank You to PRAMAC for the donation of a 22 KVA Power Generator for the School building.
The power generator is providing full power support to the School Building from May 20, 2010. Power disruption is a common factor in Dhaka. This power generator is providing instant power supply to generate all electrical equipments of the school building. The students and teachers are very happy.Thanks to PRAMAC for the kind donation.

MBC Group Staffs donate Various items to TDP
12 Jun. 2010 Rima Rached and MBC Group Staffs of Dubai donated Goods, Toiletaries & Stationaty items worth of 1,800 US$ to The Dhaka Project.
Rima Rached along with some visitors visited overall activities of The Dhaka Project. They were very impressed to see the slum children being educated with motherly affection.
T-Shirt resembling the countries of the world cup 2010 football were distributed among the senior students of the The Dhaka Project School.
Toiletary items included Soap, Toothpaste & Toothbrush.

Every Thursday is a food distribution day.

Students were lined-up according to their grades as usual. Names were called by Mr. Azad based on the weekly class presence.
Bags containing Rice, Lentil, Potato, Onions, Garlic & Eggs were distributed among the students. Goods used to be measured by normal weight machine before but now to ensure equal weight a digital weight machine was bought.

Library of The Dhaka Project School gets New Shape
9th June 2010, Volunteer Luisa (Portugal) and Sara (Australia) visited The Dhaka Project School. They were surprised to see a library with huge books of Literature, History, Science, Geography, Bangla, Foreign language, Story books, Arts & Culture , Music, etc.
It surely is like a big public library.
The volunteers decided to reorganize and display the books in an orderly manner on the shelves. Couple of day’s hard work made it possible and the library got a new shape.
New laminated captions were pasted on the shelves.
Mr. Shimul (Local Volunteer) joined them with great enthusiasm.
Thanks to Volunteer Luisa and Sara for their innovative ideas.

Cookies Distribution at Pre School
29th May 2010, Students of Daycare, Play Group & Nursery were busy in their classes. At 12:00 PM Cookies were brought.
Student's were surprised when Mr. Azad distributed cookies among the students.
The Cabin Crew members of Emirates Airline brought these cookies from Dubai through on flight to Dhaka.

TDP Students visit ISD
More than 200 students of TDPS visited International School of Dhaka (ISD) on 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th May, 2010 to share their knowledge of Art, Reading, Music & Sports.
Students of KG 2 and Standard 3 were divided into 4 Groups for the workshop from 11 am to 4 pm on the stipulated days.
TDP finds that such Extra Curriculum (EC) activities help the students to coup with the modern world. Visiting International School of Dhaka (ISD) has become a regular program.
The students of The Dhaka Project School find it much interesting and enjoy the learning method.
Power Generator Donated to TDP School
A Power Generator was donated to The Dhaka Project School by PRAMAC through Rahimafrooz. It is a 22 KVA power generator and can provide full power support to the School Building.
The installation process of the power generator began from early May 2010. A RCC floor was constructed behind the School Building with a tin roof to protect it from bad weather.
The place was caged to prevent any kind of external damage.

Burnt Student Helped by TDP
Enamul Haq, aged 8, younger brother of Nazmul Hasan (TDP student) had a serious burn injury.
While Enamul was in his room the electrical wires caught fire and he was burned instantly on right side of his face, hand and leg.
He was immediately brought to The Dhaka Project Medical Centre where he was provided first-aid treatment.
Later he was referred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn Unit where he is undergoing a treatment from May 07, 2010.
All the medical expenses are provided by The Dhaka Project.

Feast for TDP Students
22nd May 2010, Mr. Anwar, ASM, Emirates Airlines donated 20,000 Taka for arranging a feast for all TDP Students.
All the students were present on the roof top of the School building at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday which is a school holiday.
Hotchpotch-- a favorite dish of the Bangladeshi people were prepared including beef curry.
All the students were happy and ate with their heart content.
Thanks to Mr. Anwar for the donation for arranging such a marvelous feast.

Happy Birthday to Maria Conceicao!
23rd May 2010, the students of The Dhaka Project School celebrated the birthday of Maria Conceicao, founder of the Dhaka Project. Students' joy knew no bounds when they heard it was Maria's birthday.
Maria is in the heart of 500 slum students dreaming for better future. A 30 Kilogram Cake decorated with Red Roses was ordered in honour of Maria. All the students, teachers and staffs were present on the roof top of the School building at 3:00 p.m.
Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday to Dear Maria,... later, pieces of cake were distributed by Mr. Azad among all.
Though we missed Maria it was a heavenly moment at The Dhaka Project.

Writing Books distributed among students
10th May 2010, writing books were distributed by Class teachers among the students of The Dhaka Project School for all subjects. The students will do their Class work and Home work in the writing books.
Drawing books were also distributed among the students. Practical books were distributed among the students of Standard Seven. Students were very happy to receive new writing books for the New Class.
