Disha’s story on a Food Distribution Day

27th January 2011 was the Weekly Food Distribution Day of The Dhaka Project School. Students were lined-up according to their grades as usual.
Names were called by Mr. Azad based on the weekly class presence. Every Thursday is a food distribution day.
Double quantity of food was given to the students as they didn’t get food bags last week.
Bags containing Rice, Lentil, Potato, Onions, Garlic & Eggs were distributed among the students from 3:30 P.M.
Bag full of weekly diet food recommended by TDP Medical Centre reduces the burden of nutrition among the student’s family. Food distribution day is a happy day for the student’s of The Dhaka Project School.
Disha Farhin (ID-850) a student of Standard 2 Section B was in the queue too. By turn her name was called and given a food bag.
Disha took the food bag came all the way to her Tin shed house where her mother and younger sister was waiting for the food bag.
At last Disha came with the food bag!! The food bag was heavy so Disha was exhausted. Disha’s mother emptied the bag near the kitchen.
“Good—there is plenty to eat -----Thanks to The Dhaka Project.”
All the family members are happy today.
For cooking food they use Clay oven commonly known as Chula which is fueled by dry leaves and wood.
Poor Disha----doesn’t have a bed to sleep. All four members of the family sleep on the floor. Bad smell comes from the ditch through the window. They are now used to it.
“We are very proud to be a part of the Dhaka Project” says Disha, a cute little girl.
Despite all joy and sorrow the students always enjoy on the food distribution day.
